We received this gorgeous cake for lunch today.  I was too full to have a piece, but I'm not now.  It's absolutely impossible to go on a diet in this house.

Happy Almost Halloween

I usually throw a huge Halloween party, but this year I'm feeling kinda lazy to decorate.  I just came back from Singapore and Halloween is in 6 days. 

I do miss the house smelling of baking with cinnamon and allspice. 

Celine Sneakers & Abaya With Checks

I love my Celine Vans, I'll be running around in them wearing my new Abaya.  Everyone always asks me if I have to wear an Abaya here in Saudi Arabia.  I do, I honestly don't mind, and I do cover my face.

This is an Arabic dessert filled with sweet cream and I drench it with sugar syrup.  It's really delicious with a cup of fresh mint tea.

Complimentary From The Chef

We actually got a welcome plate of these in our suite.  I didn't get a chance to taste these then, so it was nice to have them in the restaurant with tea.

Jiang-Nan Chun is a formal Chinese restaurant with excellent food.  I'm so glad we had a chance to try the hairy crabs, there peak season is quite short.  The roe is so lovely and the meat has a delicate flavor than the ones we eat at Joe's Crab Shack.  They are small and are from a lake, therefore, it takes patience to take out all the meat.

Our first course was sushi that had meringue instead of rice.  They both melted in my mouth with an explosion of flavor. 

Ratatouille

This was a solid mound of provencal vegetables with fine herbs. Every spoonful had a different flavor because of the surprise of different portions of herbs on the bottom.  Hubby just reminded me that there was also caviar.

  Cheese Bread

This was so fresh and piping hot I finished it in three bites.  It's like the bread that is served in Argentinian churrasco restaurants, but this was alot better quality.

 

 

Cappellini

This is a signature dish of angel hair pasta, sakura ebi, konbu, and shellfish oil.  It's packed full of flavor, and is truly a memorable pasta.

 

 

This was a grilled fish on a bed of red rice.  I can't remember the name of the fish, but it was so delicious.

 

 

Beef

The original menu had duck but we requested beef.  We had duck last night and didn't feel like having it again tonight.  I wasn't all that impressed with this dish.

 

 

This was our gorgeous dessert of buttery French brioche on vanilla foam with chocolate and roasted almonds and a dollop of ice cream.  Yummy!  Hubby gave me his, because he doesn't have a sweet tooth like me. 

 

 

Hinoki Chocolate Box

A selection of home-made chocolates, macaroons, and grapefruit jellies.  The chocolate was melt in your mouth smooth with a hint of coffee flavor.  The macaroons didn't taste like the French kind I'm used to eating, like Lauduree or Pierre Herme but, the chocolate filling would make a chocolate connoisseur purr

with delight.  The grapefruit jellies were perfect, if you like grapefruit.

Iggy's is supposed to be the best restaurant in Singapore, and is #9 on the "World's Top 50 Restaurants".  I'm not a connoisseur of food, but it was a truly memorable dinner and the service was impeccable.

I took these pictures at the Staples Center Los Angeles, California.  Yes, they are special close-up pictures, we had 2die4 seats.  I must say that he is more good looking in person than in pictures.  Pictures are not able to capture his je ne sais quoi.

 

That's Not A Celine Sweatshirt

I know it's not, it's better, it's a Brian Lichtenberg Feline Sweatshirt.  I first saw this sweatshirt on a model at Chef Victor Casanova's Gusto Restaurant.  Yeah, he's the same chef that left Culina Restaurant in the Four Season's Beverly Hills to open his own restaurant.

Gusto Restaurant in Los Angeles is a place that people in the know go to. Ssshh, Make your reservation early and enjoy real Italian food, and save room for 2 desserts, you won't regret it. 

 Brian Lichtenberg Feline Tee

Brian's line of tees and sweatshirts have reached cult status with the hollywood crowd.  He basically puts a playful spin on the logos of the "it fashion houses", like Celine is Feline, Hermes is Homies, and Balmain is Ballin.

 

 

 

 

 

Jeffrey Campbell Adams Lion High-Tops

These are super playful and are embellished with gold metal spikes and lion head medallion accent details.  I found these in London, England  Selfridges, they had too many great styles and designers.  I had a heck of a time deciding.

I must give a shout out to the shoe buyers at Selfridges, "you spoil us with a 2die4 collection."  Kudos.
